When filing a South African patent, we can (without additional charge) request expedited acceptance of the patent. Requesting expedited acceptance reduces the time for acceptance from 9 months to 2 weeks (or 4 weeks during Covid Stage 4 Lockdown).

Following acceptance, we arrange for the patent to be published in the next available Patent Journal. This automatically triggers registration of the patent.

We typically receive the patent registration certificate from the South African Patent Office within 3 weeks of publication.
