SimTM becomes the most widely used trademark watch service for African trademarks
Despite only launching in 2026, SimTM‘s trademark watch service technology has been adopted widely by African trademark service providers.
The following IP services providers now rely on SimTM technology to enable their clients timeously to oppose registration of confusingly similar trademark within South Africa, Nigeria and OAPI:
- GlobalIPCo – the largest online filer of African patents;
- S&Z – the #1 filer of South African trademarks 2022-2025;
- TMDirect – an online filing system for South African trademarks;
- PayAnnuity – the fastest-growing African IP renewal system that focusses on South African, Nigerian and OAPI patent and trademark renewals;
- IdeaNav renewals – a renewal system that manages renewal of +13,000 patents; and
- Iptica – an online inventor-focus intellectual property filing system.

The wide adoption of SimTM technology by African IP firms is due to its:
- flexible pricing options, which are not based on the number of searches conducted, reports generated or trademarks monitored – encouraging IP service providers and online renewal systems to maximise use of SimTM Technology and to offer trademark monitoring services without additional cost;
- range of output options, including webpage generation, email alerts and search facilities; and
- efficiency, providing trademark data within a day of publication, generating hundreds of thousands of search results within seconds; instantaneous updating of an unlimited number of webpages; and providing webpage reports with extremely low memory usage.
