South African design registrations may now be couriered within 4 months of filing, and our new “package” couples registration and lifetime renewals.

About South African designs

Time to courier of certificate: 4 months (if accelerated acceptance is requested at no additional cost).

Type: Aesthetic design or Functional design.

Term: 15 years for Aesthetic designs and 10 years for Functional designs.

Cost: $799 (inclusive of filing, grant, courier, payment of all renewals for the 10/15 year term and official fees). This is the all-inclusive lifetime cost for each design registration.

Class: Each design may claim only one class.

Examination: No substantive examination.
