Two of Africa’s top IP renewal systems integrate SimTM technology for trademark monitoring services
Both the PayAnnuity renewal system and the IdeaNav renewal system have incorporated SimTM trademark monitoring technology into their systems.
This enables the PayAnnuity and IdeaNav renewal systems to email select clients trademark watching search reports detailing recently published South African trademarks that are phonetically similar to registered trademarks in their PayAnnuity / IdeaNav renewal portfolios.
Shortly, the PayAnnuity and IdeaNav renewal systems will extend their trademark monitoring services to Nigerian and OAPI trademarks.
Cost of trademark monitoring services
Both the PayAnnuity and IdeaNav renewal systems provide trademark monitoring services without cost. However, users will need to contact PayAnnuity or IdeaNav to activate the watching search service on their account.
Frequency of trademark watching search reports
The PayAnnuity and IdeaNav renewal systems should email trademark watching search reports within a day of publication of a trademark journal, giving clients:
- 3 months to oppose recently published South African trademarks;
- 3 months to oppose recently published OAPI trademarks; and
- 2 months to oppose recently published Nigerian trademarks.
Additional trademark monitoring services provided by GlobalIPCo
In addition to emailing trademark watching search reports, the GlobalIPCo system (which is associated with PayAnnuity) also:
- publishes +60,000 trademark monitoring report webpages; and
- provides a trademark monitoring search facility.
PayAnnuity African renewal costs
PayAnnuity offers African trademark renewals for:
- South African trademark renewals: $49; and
- Nigerian trademark renewals: $94.
These costs are the total costs (inclusive of professional fees and official fees).
