SimTM powers the GlobalIPCo South African trademark monitoring service.

SimTM Technology alerts owners of registered South African trademarks that a phonetically similar South African trademark has been published (and is open to opposition for the next 3 months).

South African trademark monitoring emails

To receive monthly trademark monitoring alerts by email:

• upload your trademarks to the PayAnnuity renewal system (which charges $49 for a South African 10-year trademark renewal); and
• ask GlobalIPCo / PayAnnuity to add you to the South African trademark monitoring service.

South African trademark monitoring search service

As an alternative to receiving trademark monitoring emails, South African trademark owners can use the GlobalIPCo trademark monitoring search facility to generate a historical South African trademark monitoring report. Either search for a trademark number registered after 2018 or input a word mark and class.

Evaluate brand managers’ relative performance

GlobalIPCo also publishes webpages for select trademarks, providing historical monitoring search results and other graphics to enable brand managers to evaluate their relative performance. Brand managers can use these graphs to compare their performance against the average

Countries covered

The GlobalIPCo system is initially applying SimTM technology to South African trademarks. However, in time, it will extend the trademark monitoring service to OAPI, Nigerian and other African trademarks.
