GlobalIPCo adopts SimTM Technology for South African trademark watching searches
About SimTM Technology
SimTM technology is a trademark watching search technology that identifies recently published South African trademarks that are phonetically similar to registered South African trademarks.
SimTM is specifically designed to enable websites to create watching search reports in real-time. It also enables users to:
- create a dynamic webpage for each trademark providing real-time watching search results in four categories of relevance; and
- send monthly watching search emails for trademarks in a renewal system.
How GlobalIPCo uses SimTM technology
- Select users on GlobalIPCo’s PayAnnuity renewal system receive monthly emails alerting them to newly published trademarks that are similar to trademarks on the renewal system.
- A webpage detailing historical watching search results is published for trademarks registered by select trademark applicants since 2018.
- A search facility enables trademark applicants to create limited historical watching search reports by inputting: a trademark number; or a mark and class.

South African trademark watching search pricing
GlobalIPCo offers South African trademark watching services without charge for select clients on its PayAnnuity renewal system (which charges $49 for a 10-year South African trademark renewal (inclusive of official fees, professional fees and disbursements)).
South African trademark opposition
GlobalIPCo uses S&Z – the fastest growing South African trademark firm, having grown its trademark filings by an average of 35% pa (compounded) year on year for each of the past 4 years – to oppose trademarks.
