Opposition periods:
- South Africa: 3 months from publication
- Nigeria: 2 months from publication
- OAPI: 3 months from publication

How to add your trademark to SimTM’s trademark monitoring service
SimTM has partnered with GlobalIPCo – the leading online filer of African trademarks and patents – to provide trademark monitoring reports for trademarks on GlobalIPCo’s PayAnnuity trademark renewal system.
To activate trademark monitoring / watching search emails, add your trademark to PayAnnuity – the lowest-cost option for trademark renewals in Africa – and ask GlobalIPCo to activate your SimTM trademark watching service.
PayAnnuity renewal costs:
- South African trademark renewal: $49
- Nigerian trademark renewal: $94
Other options to obtain SimTM trademark monitoring data
The GlobalIPCo system includes a search facility. Either:
- input a trademark number; or
- input a mark and class.
The system will generate a record of historical trademark watching search results.
Alternatively, trademark monitoring report webpages showing historical data are published by GlobalIPCo for select high-volume applicants.
