How to file South African Patent in 15 easy steps

To file a South African patent is easy with All you need is the WO / PCT number. Use WIPO website data to populate the input fields. This takes only a couple of minutes. Download forms for signature. Upload the signed forms and copy of the PCT patent specification (downloaded from the WIPO website) and pay $399 to file. Discounts are extended to attorneys.

South Africa does not examine patents. So, the patent application should be granted within 12 months. To cost to arrange grant is only $70.

Once granted, the patent is renewed annually from the third anniversary of the PCT filing date. The average cost of a South African patent renewal is $60.

If you are unsure about anything, select “Review”. This will quarantine the application for checking by a South African patent attorney before filing. The cost of this is only $49.
