The simplest way to get a trademark licence
Trademark licence options
- Engage a trademark attorney with experience in intellectual property commercialisation to draft a trademark licence.
- Download and use a template trademark licence.
- Use Licence Direct.
Traditionally, both parties to a trademark licence engaged their own trademark attorneys and left it to their attorneys to argue and draft the trademark licence. This is an expensive option, with drafts repeatedly bouncing between the attorneys.
Although template licence agreements are a cheaper option, they have never been popular, as they are too rigid – forcing the parties to conform to the “standard template”.
Licence Direct is the best option. it assists the parties during the negotiation process and generates a highly customised trademark licence agreement.

Questionnaire
The Licence Direct questionnaire guides the parties through the trademark licence negotiation process, explaining issues and recommending options to select. “Tips” discuss contentious issues that frequently trigger disputes.
The Questionnaire is divided into 24 slides, allowing a high degree of customisation by the parties.
Downloading the trademark licence
After completing the Questionnaire, download a PDF version of the licence.
Since the Licence Direct system is not “engaged” by either party, the generated trademark licence is “neutral” and can be trusted by both the licensor and licensee.,
If you wish to change any of the terms originally agreed upon, change the selections in the Questionnaire and download a revised trademark licence.
Cost of a trademark licence
S&Z offers Licence Direct without charge. You may freely use the Questionnaire and trademark licences generated by Licence Direct without registering or accepting any “terms and conditions”. However, it is best to save your draft Questionnaire / licence to enable you to return and complete a partially-completed Questionnaire / revise a generated licence.
